About the Role:

Buffy is looking for a VP of Operations to join our team. Reporting to the COO, this role will lead our operations strategy, from the time our products are manufactured to the moment our customers enjoy them. This includes physical product operations (sourcing, supply chain, logistics, freight, fulfillment) and customer experience. The leader in this role is responsible for driving strategy and execution for our core operational units that deliver a customer-centric and brand-aligned experience with a focus on financial & environmental sustainability. This role will be a member of Buffy’s Senior Leadership Team to achieve Buffy’s near and long-term business and financial goals.

Buffy is on an exciting journey to be the go-to sustainable soft goods brand, and we will be looking to this role to provide operational excellence in amplifying our company’s capabilities and practices, while bringing new and exciting products to market and building our capabilities to onboard new wholesale partnerships.

The candidate we are looking for will have a solid track record of leadership in the DTC industry, as well as strong ability of using data and insights to set the vision and strategy for an innovative business and operations roadmap. And just as importantly, candidates will be humble, effective, and thoughtful leaders that model leadership candor, effective collaboration, and enjoy the down and dirty nature of a startup environment full of people looking to bring comfy and sustainable products into the world.


  • Develop strategies, execute and drive results for Buffy’s operations strategy to ensure we’re building a world class operations structure that consistently exceeds our customers’ high expectations as our business grows and scales
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team towards outcome and operational excellence in their various business units, which include (i) sourcing & supply chain, (2) logistics & fulfillment, and (3) customer experience
  • Plan and own the delivery of quarterly OKRs for Buffy’s Operational units, creating a culture of both quantitative and qualitative accountability where we set and deliver on a very high bar for all outcomes
  • Own the technology roadmap for operations to ensure we have the systems we need to support the company as we continue to scale
  • Lead negotiations and RFP/RFQ processes with suppliers across sourcing, fulfillment, transport, and other value added services
  • Partner with other leaders across the company in developing our forward-looking strategy and practices, including
  • our Chief Marketing Officer to understand Buffy’s near & long term brand and revenue targets to incorporate practices and processes that actualize these targets
  • our Finance team to find continual opportunities for efficiencies and savings with Buffy’s vendors and partners
  • Incorporate Buffy’s sustainability goals of Closed-Loop Comfort into all of our operational & supply chain practices
  • Be a member Buffy’s Senior Leadership Team and partner with other leaders regularly to plan and problem solve on business performance and financial health
  • Service as voice of leadership around any opportunities that present themselves for brand, operations and financial excellence


  • 10+ years of related experience in Operations across production, planning, sourcing and fulfillment, with a deep understanding of strategically thinking through vendor relationships across these areas; 7+ years of experience leading teams towards successful outcomes; relevant experience in an e-commerce/DTC environment is a major plus
  • Is passionate and deeply aligned with Buffy’s core values of comfort & sustainability
  • Is an avid problem solver, and able to execute on today’s challenges while maintaining a forward-thinking mindset that takes proactive steps to discuss and address with stakeholders
  • Is data driven and goal oriented, you measure success both quantitatively and qualitatively and understand the importance of both
